Jitendra Kushwaha’s world had once thrived in the glimmering lights of the film industry. For two decades, he penned scripts for Bollywood, weaving stories that danced across silver screens. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it brought his career to an abrupt halt, just as it did for millions of others. In the blink of an eye, Jitendra found himself back where he had started twenty years earlier, with nothing but uncertainty ahead.
Struggling to survive, he took a leap of faith into a new business venture — fly ash brick production. Despite his best efforts, the business stumbled, and with it, Jitendra’s confidence crumbled. Friends and family, once supportive, began to ridicule him. The weight of failure bore down on him, and with every passing day, he felt his dreams slipping further away. All hope seemed lost until Jagriti entered his life like a beacon in the darkness.
From Silver Screens to Brick Foundations
After completing his degree in 1996, Jitendra’s heart had drawn him towards the glitzy world of cinema. He moved to Mumbai and carved out a life as a scriptwriter. Yet, by 2019, life threw him a challenge he wasn’t prepared for. The pandemic crippled the entertainment industry, forcing Jitendra to leave behind his dream career and return to his hometown in Padrauna, Uttar Pradesh.
Two years of fruitless job searching led him to consider entrepreneurship. He saw potential in producing fly ash bricks — a new, environmentally friendly business for his region. After extensive research, he established Kombo Creative in March 2022. But challenges mounted quickly. Buyers were hesitant to trust a product they didn’t know, and capital was tight. With no loans available and family unable to help, Jitendra had to sell his land to keep the business afloat. Still, the company struggled to turn a profit.
The Brink of Collapse
Kombo Creative’s initial production flourished, but customers were hard to come by. The unfamiliarity of fly ash bricks made the local market wary, and sales were slow. On top of this, Jitendra was swindled by a supplier, losing two lakh rupees — a devastating blow to his already fragile business. Financial pressure mounted, and soon, the prospect of shutting down became very real.
It was August 2023, a time when despair clouded Jitendra’s vision. It was then, by chance, that he crossed paths with Jagriti during an event at a nearby factory. Learning about Jagriti’s work with entrepreneurs, Jitendra clung to a last thread of hope and expressed his desire to join their initiative.
A New Dawn: Rising from the Ashes
In September 2023, Jitendra’s company was selected for Jagriti’s Incubation Cohort. From that point on, Jagriti became his guiding light. He was paired with mentors, including business expert Manish Agarwal, who not only provided valuable advice but helped Jitendra secure a crucial certification for his fly ash bricks.
With the certification in hand, government departments and local buyers began placing orders. What once seemed impossible was now within reach. Jagriti’s financial assistance and mentorship helped him stabilize his business, and the ridicule that once surrounded him turned into respect.
Angels in Disguise
Reflecting on his journey, Jitendra often speaks of Jagriti with profound gratitude. To him, they were not just a support system — they were his saviors. Jagriti’s team, particularly mentors like Manish and Anand, stood by him every step of the way, offering not just financial help but the belief that he could rise again.
Today, Kombo Creative is thriving. Jitendra’s perseverance, combined with Jagriti’s unwavering support, has transformed his life. Jagriti’s presence in Purvanchal, according to Jitendra, is nothing short of a blessing for struggling entrepreneurs.
